by Teacher Bridget, January 2023

English is currently regarded as the global language of business; it is taught in over 118 countries and is frequently used globally as a trade or diplomatic language. It is regarded as the fastest-spreading language and is spoken by approximately 1.75 billion people worldwide. There are close to 400 million native speakers and about a billion fluent speakers, and there are millions of people around the world who have studied it as a second language.

One cannot help but wonder if English is becoming more popular as the international language of business. To survive and succeed in a global economy, companies must overcome language barriers and English is the common ground. With the expansion of international trade, more and more countries are being brought into contact with one another and some of the best courses in the world are also being taught in English. Therefore, speaking English can put you in a better position to get superior training and achieve higher credentials.

Furthermore, multinational companies are increasingly adopting a universal English policy, mandating English as the common corporate language. This strategic implementation is to facilitate communication across diverse geographies, as their need for a certain degree of English proficiency from their employees grows.

So, if you wish to future-proof yourself, learning better English will undoubtedly support this!
